8/1/23 company response: "Thanks for reaching out! Your health is extremely important to us, so we take every precaution when it comes to allergens and food safety. Let me tell you a little bit about our manufacturing process. From acquiring our ingredients to producing and labeling our products, we’ve established clear, comprehensive procedures to ensure that any potentially life-threatening allergens in our products are communicated and controlled. We label our products carefully to give you confidence in the safety of our snacks. On our labels, we list any major allergen ingredients (outlined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)), like milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans. We also label additional allergens: seed, celery, and sulfites. For your best understanding and for children’s safety, we’ve even used consumer-friendly language to call out complex ingredients that could cause major allergic reactions. Our practices are in full compliance with FALCPA labeling requirements. We know proper food safety goes beyond just awareness of a product’s ingredients, though. If you’re sensitive to even minor traces of an allergen in your food, you can count on our labels to communicate any potential cross-contact with specific allergens in products being manufactured on shared equipment. If the cross-contact presence of an allergen, like peanuts, is unavoidable despite our precautions, we label the product like this: MAY CONTAINS PEANUTS Please note that we use this type of “may contain” labeling judiciously— only when an allergen could be present despite all precautions to prevent it. As the U.S. FDA advises, we don’t use this labeling in place of best manufacturing practices, like keeping our equipment clean. If you have any concerns about possible allergens in the snack you’re about to enjoy, you can rest assured that all the possible sources of allergens declared on our labels have been thoroughly researched. If you have any more questions, please don’t hesitate to ask me. I’m here to help you snack happier!"

Additional Notes
3/12/24 phone discussion: Mondalez International policy: If a product is made in a facility that contains one of the top 9 allergens, the label will note that the allergen is present in the facility. If you don’t read that on the label, then you know that any top 9 allergen not listed is not present in the facility where the product was made. Important to read the label every time. This applies to any product made or sold in the USA, as well as products made outside the U.S.
